Help Bhagawati Fight Cancer and Support Her Kids

Bhagawati Dahal is a Nepali refugee who was granted asylum in 2018. My wife was her English teacher upon arrival to America and helped Bhagawati out of a domestic violence situation. She is now a single mother of two kids, living far below the poverty line with limited English skills. Bhagawati had just found some stability and consistency in her life, after years and years of struggling. She found a stable place to live, employment that could just barely pay all the bills, and a partner who really cares about her.

Then she was diagnosed with cancer in late May. This is something that would be backbreaking for most of us born and raised in America, let alone someone with very limited resources and English skills. She is terrified, for herself, for her kids, for her family as a whole. Bhagawati often has less than $1,000 to her name at any given point, and she is scared that she can't work during her diagnosis and that they will have to end up homeless or in a shelter. Social workers are doing everything they can, but this is an overwhelmed system full of cracks and bureaucratic nonsense. She really, really needs help now.

I mean this when I say Bhagawati and her kids are the kindest people in the entire world. They never ask for anything, and they love with their entire hearts. They have offered us the last food in their fridge when they had nothing left. They always ask us if we are happy and have eaten and if we are good, no matter how much they are struggling. These are the kinds of people who should have all the blessings of the world heaped upon them, but instead Bhagawati has experienced one tragedy after another. This is probably the worst news that could happen to anyone, and every day Bhagawati is struggling with anxiety, dread, fear, and anguish.

Even just a few hundred dollars would make an immense difference for her. Whatever anyone can spare would be literally saving someone's life, and the life of two kids. Thank you guys so much. We love Bhagawati and her family and this is one of the ways we thought of to help.
