To know Becca is to love Becca; she is thoughtful, hilarious, and a endless wellspring of facts about the natural world.

This fundraiser is organized by her friends, who want to see Becca catch a break after several years of acute physical suffering. Last year (2025), Becca spent over $16,000 on medical expenses in addition to those covered by insurance.

Specifically, we are hoping to raise $10,000 to cover the following:

The specialist that Becca has been seeing to evaluate their neurological symptoms is recommending Becca do an intensive treatment course of visual cognitive therapy that is not covered by insurance. The only option is to pay out of pocket.

This treatment involves a therapy program that takes place daily over two weeks, and addresses Becca's binocular vision disorder and fourth cranial nerve palsy, with additional benefits for repairing brain damage to Becca’s autonomic nervous system.

In Becca's words:

Right now, I’m completely housebound and bedbound most of the time. Eli is doing a lot of physical caretaking for me, and I am pretty much only leaving the house for medical appts. My physical condition is the worst it’s ever been. Things I could do just 6 months ago I am completely unable to do now. I can’t drive, I can’t walk without danger of falling, and I don’t have the capacity to make art or music anymore.

This treatment should help heal my autonomic nervous system enough that I can then tolerate future therapies. It’s our hope that this treatment will also be the investment needed to help me continue having a career. If my downward trend continues much further, I’ll have no choice but to stop working. Disability benefits can take multiple years and a lawyer to achieve, and even then, it’s a guarantee you’ll be denied repeatedly.

This is coming at a time when I have a billion other medical appointments, copays & costs to deal with — in the next 6 weeks I need an endoscopy, an ultrasound, and EKG, potentially another PET-CT scan or MRI. The appointments & procedures stack up.
