In April of 2024, my mom began experiencing severe stomach pain. After taking her to the doctor, we received the devastating news that she had been diagnosed with CMML Leukemia. She immediately began treatment at our local hospital, and there was a time earlier this year when we almost lost her. Desperate to find the best care, I discovered MD Anderson in Houston, Texas, and their incredible team saved her life. Now, we travel from Michigan to Texas once a month for her treatments, which has been both a blessing and a challenge for our family.
Traveling such a long distance is very expensive. From airfare and hotel stays to transportation to and from the hospital, the costs add up quickly. On top of that, her chemotherapy medication is extremely costly, even with insurance. Trying to keep up with these medical expenses, along with our everyday bills like phone, internet, and car payments, has been overwhelming. We want nothing more than to give my mom the best chance at recovery, but the financial strain is making it difficult to focus on what matters most—her health and well-being.
My mom is 79 years old and the heart of our family. She has five children, three grandchildren, and eight great-grandchildren who all adore her. She has always been the one to care for others, from working as a bus driver for Napoleon Schools to a cook at Brooklyn Assisted living Center , now it’s our turn to care for her .
It would mean the world to us to help relieve her stress and worry about everyday challenges, so she can use her energy to fight this battle. Any support you can offer would be deeply appreciated by our entire family. Thank you for helping us give my mom the strength and hope she needs to keep going.
Any donation—big or small—means more than words can express. If you’re unable to give, we ask for prayers, encouragement, and sharing this page. Thank you for standing with our family during this difficult season. Your kindness is a reminder that we are not walking this road alone. “The Lord bless you and keep you; the Lord make His face shine on you and be gracious to you.” — Numbers 6:24–26 With grateful hearts, The family of Nancy
