If you’ve ever walked into Britton’s Cafe, chances are you’ve tasted something made with love by Bev Kappes. For years, Bev has been the heart behind the baking — HUGE, warm, ooey-gooey cinnamon rolls, fresh pastries, and comforting treats that brought so many of us to a sugary carb heaven.

And then there’s Papa Jim.

If you stopped by Tony’s Conoco back in the day, you probably didn’t just get gas — you got advice, a little teasing, and a conversation you didn’t know you needed. Jim has always had a way of making people laugh, offering steady guidance, and a skilled hand for mechanics.

Bev is currently battling congestive heart failure along with internal bleeding from her colon. These serious medical issues have led to hospital stays, ongoing treatments, and constant monitoring. Jim has stayed faithfully by her side through it all.

Because of the level of care Bev needs, they have been traveling for medical treatment and staying in hotels near the hospital. The unexpected expenses are quickly becoming overwhelming, including:

• Hotel stays during hospital visits

• Gas for constant travel

• Food while away from home

• Medical-related expenses

• Their monthly mortgage and household bills

They have spent their lives serving this community — through early mornings at the café, long days at the gas station, and always showing up when someone needed help. They’ve never hesitated to give.

Now it’s our turn to give back.
