Hi everyone,
I’m reaching out on behalf of a sweet 98 year old woman, Betty, and her daughter, my friend, who has been struggling to pay for 24 hour home care for her mother.
Betty has dementia and has likely had strokes which have left her crippled and unable to stand, feed herself or toilet. She is 87 lbs. She has diabetes, severe osteoarthritis, incontinence, severe pain, and bladder and bowel problems. Her spine is held together with medical cement (kyphoplasty) because she has fractured every vertebrae due to long term medication induced osteoporosis. She needs around the clock care.
Betty has a history of many medical traumas. At age 19 she was hospitalized for a year with gum disease and lost all her teeth. In her 60s she broke her hip and was abused in a rehab facility. She survived all that and much more.
Through all this she has never lost her will to live and keeps trying each day - even now. She is extremely grateful for her caregivers and her home. Her daughter is at her financial limits after many years of support.
Please help pay for this important care during these most difficult times.
The weekly cost for home care is $3360. The money raised through this effort will go directly toward the cost of caregivers to assist with daily needs such as, feeding, bathing, toileting, dressing, cooking soft foods, medication management, and keeping her environment clean.
We are trying to provide Betty with dignity, love and peace in these incredibly vulnerable times. If you are able to help financially, any amount will mean the world to her. For instance, $20 will pay for an hour of care, $240 will pay for a 12 hour shift. And if you are not in a position to give, please share this campaign with your contacts and keep Betty and her daughter in your prayers.
For those of you who prefer to donate by check, cash or Zelle, please feel free to reach out to me directly.
Thank you for your kindness, support and love.
