Say hello to Betty!
Today at approx 4:30 pm on Rochelle Ave the little black poodle of Roxborough was finally caught. Endless, endless thank you's to the friendly neighbors who let us grab everything that wasn't nailed down to barricade Betty on their porch, to Kendall who gave me the tip and kept Betty in her sights until I got there and stayed until she was safely contained, to Rebecca who rushed over to bring a crate and treats, to the Goodboy team who helped me get Betty contained via FaceTime, and Melanie (and the whole poodle power squad) who was already on her way to pick up the trap that ended up no longer being needed! Also to Liberty Vet, who was able to give her an exam and vaccines at such short notice!

Betty (the name we thought up so the vet could make her a file) is an approx. 4 year old, unspayed female. She is not microchipped, but appears otherwise taken care of--nails recently trimmed, no fleas, groomed at least in the past two months. She was very, very scared but once she got inside, she laid down on our laps and fell asleep almost immediately. She has a safe home with us tonight and as for her future, we are going to take it day by day. An owner has yet to come forward, so barring that she gets along ok with our cat, we can foster her for a little while if needed. Honestly seeing her around the house, an almost uncanny lookalike of our dog that passed away 4 weeks ago now, is a bit painful but bittersweet in a way. She's off to go enjoy a freshly cooked (and very controlled portion) of porkchop. Stay tuned for more updates!

Her first vet bill came to $187 so I’ve set the cap at $500 to cover that and her follow up, as well as some food and treats (I ironically gave all of mine to my sister when she visited with her dogs for thanksgiving)
