Betty’s hip bone is dying… and she is only 1.5 years old.

It feels like every time she catches her breath… life throws something else at her.

Over the last two weeks, Betty slowly stopped using her back right leg.

At first it was subtle.

Now, it simply hangs beneath her. The muscles in her right hip have begun to waste away. She’s losing weight. And despite everything, she still greets the people she loves with that same sweet, wiggly personality that has made everyone fall in love with her.

This morning, we met with Dr. Dickson at Fetch.

The news wasn’t what we were hoping for.

Betty has Avascular Necrosis (AVN)—a condition where the bone loses its blood supply and begins to die. The worst damage is in the femoral neck of her hip.

On Monday, Betty will undergo Femoral Head Ostectomy (FHO) surgery. Dr. Dickson will remove the ball and neck of her hip joint to eliminate the source of her pain and give her the opportunity to rebuild a pain-free life.

The bone will also be sent out for biopsy.

We’re praying the results show this was caused by an old injury or fracture that went unnoticed before she came into rescue.

Because if it doesn’t… we’ll be facing an entirely different battle.

Right now, we’re choosing hope.

Hope that Monday gives Betty relief.

Hope that the biopsy gives us answers we can live with.

Hope that this brave little girl can finally close this chapter and start living the carefree life she’s deserved all along.

But we can’t get her there alone.

Betty’s surgery and diagnostics will cost nearly $6,000, and we need your help before Monday.

If Betty’s story has ever touched your heart, if you’ve celebrated her victories or cried through her setbacks alongside us, would you consider helping her one more time?

Let’s make this her third and final surgery.

No dog should have to fight this hard just to have a chance at a normal life.

We’re going to keep fighting for Betty.

We just need our village beside us.
