Hello Facebook Community,
I am coming to you in a time of need and slight desperation. I’ve had a few illnesses in life and had complete strangers nurse me back to health. Its generosity in moments like these, that are remembered for a life time.
I am setting this campaign up for Aunt Betty.
Aunt Betty was a massive influence on me and my 5 siblings growing up. She was our piano teacher, neighbor, friend, babysitter and most importantly.. our new family.
She always offered help to my parents, when 6 kids became overwhelming. She handled us like a pro, when she didn’t have to and never complained or seemed frazzled with us.
We were over her house constantly.
We became friends with her children.
Aunt Betty was the first asked to be the godmother of my brother, Jimmy.
I can sit here for hours giving countless examples on how she has personally affected each and every one of my family members throughout the years.
In my 30 years of life, I can honestly say her kind, generous and gentle nature are unparalleled.
Recently, Aunt Betty was diagnosed with Acute Myeloid Leukemia.
....There is no cure.
She will undergo Chemo everyday for 2 years.
After insurance, her medical bill currently is $20,000.
1 month of medication is $12,000. After many phone calls and wrestling with insurance companies, Bristol- Myers has decided to give Betty 1 year's worth of medication, a $144k value.
All the testings, blood tests, Dr visits are covered @40%.
Genetic testings are not covered by their insurance.
They are over $4000 each (2) and she has had 2 BRC-ABL tests @ $4000. These are classified as experimental. Their deductible. for the year is $4500.
After numerous garage sales, and parting with every personal item… we are still short.
I know my family has a lot of friends, and we rarely ask anything from them.
This time is different.
We need your help, no matter how big or small. I am trying to cover the cost of 1 month supply of medication.. $12,000. Betty will have a few more months of medication from Bristol- Myers, then they will need to call and wrestle with insurance companies all over again.
This has been a very expensive and stressful process.
If you cannot donate a few dollars, then PLEASE SHARE.
This means the world to me, my family.. and Aunt Betty.
… Just call on me brother, when you need a hand...
... we all need somebody to lean on …

Dear Betty,
We were truly sorry to hear of your difficulties. It was a wake up call to us. Often we don’t make the time to tell good friends how much they mean to us. Since moving away, I have often thought of you and John. Someday I look forward to John taking me to his secret crabbing spots. You are both salt of the earth people. I feel very lucky that my children had you in their young lives. You are a wonderful role model. You are humble, caring, hard-working and nurturing. You are a joy to be around. Often we don’t know the impact that we have on others. You have made a big difference in our lives and I am sure many others.

Dear Aunt Betty,
Growing up and having you in my life was truly a blessing. You were always so kind and caring. I remember all of the fun things we did together. Like little art projects or cooking things in the crockpot. My favorite was making split pea soup from scratch. You helped inspire me to cook and try new foods. I loved spending long weekends or a couple days over my summer break with you at the beach or the lake. You always made me feel special and for that I can not thank you enough. You will always have a special place in my heart. I love you so much.
Love,
Meg
Dear Betty,
I am so sorry to hear of the health issues you have had to endure and fight through recently. You are a strong woman and will get through all of this! Quickly after meeting you it was obvious what a kind, gentle, and caring person you are. You are always such a gracious host and have been so friendly and welcoming to me. Stay positive and I hope to see you soon!
Love,
Ashley
To my God Mother Betty,
When I look back on my childhood you are like another parent to us. You didn’t just watch over us but cared about how we turned out. You taught us so much about life and piano. Your home was our home and your family was our family. I remember what a kick you got out of Jonathan and I referring to each other as “God Brothers”. Your whole family was a joy and a cornerstone of my childhood. Now it is our turn to help you out against any and all difficulties you are faced with.
Love ya!
JIMMY
Dear Aunt Betty,
You are such a loving person! I think back on all the great memories made with you and your family, playing on the trampoline, going to the lake, eating delicious meals, exploring the river. You have always made me feel like a part of the family. You taught me so much growing up. Watching you spread positivity at all times made my heart so happy! You are in my thoughts.
I'm sending you my love,
