My name is Bettina, and I am 61 years old. I live in a small studio apartment, which I was only able to secure with the help of a co-signer because my disability income is very limited—barely enough to cover my rent. For a while, I managed to get by, but everything changed in July 2025 when my co-signer lost their father. Soon after, their finances were compromised, and everything was stolen from them—not once, but twice. This left both of us in a very difficult situation, as I rely on their help to pay my rent and afford basic necessities like food and toiletries.

When I could no longer pay my rent on time, I asked my landlord if I could make small payments to catch up, but she refused, saying it was against company policy. I had always been able to do this with previous managers, but now I found myself falling deeper into debt with Quantum Residential. In October 2025, they issued an eviction notice. At the same time, I was experiencing severe pain and bleeding, and in December, I was diagnosed with endometrial cancer. I have surgery scheduled for January 9th, 2026, and a second court hearing for my eviction in February. My debt to Quantum Residential has grown, and I have no one to represent me in court.

I am at a loss and don’t know where to turn. I never imagined I would be in this position, but I am reaching out for help so I can keep my home and focus on my health.
