Hey Glendale friends! If you've been in the village just about any length of time, you know Betsy Benn. She's always doing something useful at HWB or with a Glendale garden club and she is a friend to everyone. And just a super cool, badass lady.

On December 11th, JJ Yates (also someone who is ALWAYS helping folks in this village) found an injured kitten, about 7 weeks old. Knowing that I no longer rescue cats and kittens, Betsy took it upon herself to get help for this precious baby, pulling from her retirement account to pay the very steep vet bills at Grady. This little sweetie had a broken jaw that needed to be wired shut, which is an expensive surgery. She also had a broken paw which needed splinting, and an upper respiratory infection which needed antibiotics. The total bill, as shown in the photos, was $3,550.62. That's a LOT of money for a retiree on a fixed income.

How about if those of us who banded together so movingly in the face of hate this week got together and covered this kitten's vet bill for Betsy, who does so much to make Glendale a warm, welcoming place?

The kitten's name is Bitty, by the way. It's a perfect name for a perfect kitten.
