Help Bets With Her Battle
Donation protected
Sometime back in June Bets started having a few falls, drawing concerns from her family members. She always claimed that her legs felt weak and she didn’t have any strength. After a day a two of this she went to hospital and after some time, it was discovered that she had suffered a small stroke. As this new was alarming, her condition seemed to be getting better. Fast forward a month or so and she was feeling out of it again and feeling weak. It was determined that she had suffered yet another stroke, this time, causing more damage losing the ability of her left arm and leg. At this time she was moved into a rehab facility to try and regain the use of her extremities. After weeks of therapy and little progress she was released from the rehab facility to an assisted living facility because of need for round the clock care. After spending a few weeks at this facility, Bets suffered yet another fall, this time breaking her arm. While in the hospital receiving X-rays and other scans, the doctors discovered a mass in her brain. They had determined that this mass was most likely the cause of her strokes and further examining would be needed to figure out the next steps. After an extended stay in the hospital and many tests, she has been diagnosed with inoperable brain cancer. The tumor is too deep into her brain to be safely removed. Chemotherapy has been ruled out so the next step is radiation in the hopes of shrinking this aggressive tumor.
My name is Kyle and Bets is my mom. I have started this fundraiser to try and help alleviated some of the stress and burden from my parents during this difficult time. With all of the trips to different hospitals and rehab facilities in different cities David, my dad, has missed an extended amount of time at work. He has been by her side through the nights in the ER, driving to Rockford daily to see her in rehab, visiting her through a window while in assisted living due to covid, driving to Milwaukee almost daily to be with her while she endures test after test. This has been an extremely difficult time for our family but being there for mom has been his number one concern. As you can imagine, the medical bills will quickly begin to pile up but the day to day expenses and travel expenses have already done their fare share of damage. I am looking for any help that you have to offer to try and help me help my parents focus on their health as opposed to worrying about how they are going to make ends meet while missing so much work.
