Hello, my name is John Carter, and I’m reaching out on behalf of my brother Steve and his wife, Bethany.
Steve and Bethany have been serving the Lord as missionaries in Japan for over 23 years now. They have poured their hearts, energy, and faith into helping countless families hear about Jesus. Sharing hope, love, and the message of the Gospel in their words and their actions. Their lives have always been about sacrifice, even in the most difficult circumstances.
Today, they are facing one of life’s greatest challenges. Bethany has been diagnosed with stage 4 metastatic breast cancer, and the disease is progressing rapidly. She is undergoing medical treatments, traveling for care, and needs support for the daily challenges that come with this stage of illness.
Steve and Bethany, with their 13-year-old son Asher, have made the decision to temporarily leave Japan and return to the U.S. to establish care near family and support for Bethany.
Even in this difficult season, Steve remains committed to serving Christ and His beloved church in Japan. He will continue preaching via video and staying connected with the people he loves and ministers to, and he will travel back and forth as his schedule allows, maintaining his pastoral and missionary responsibilities. His faithfulness to Christ and his dedication to the church community in Japan remain unwavering, even while walking this personal journey of caregiving and trust in God.
As you can imagine, the financial burden of a move like this is great.
Steve and their kids are walking with Bethany every step of the way, and together they continue to place their trust in God’s sovereign plan. They believe in His promises and in the hope of the Gospel, and they have faced this journey with such courage, grace, and unwavering faith.
Even with all their determination and prayer, the financial burden of medical care, relocating, and living expenses is overwhelming.
Your donation will go directly toward helping get them home to the States, Bethany’s treatments, travel for medical appointments, housing near her care center, and the practical needs that allow them to focus on what matters most: spending precious time together and trusting God every day.
Steve and Bethany are always humble and would never just ask for financial help. I am asking on their behalf because they could use our help right now! Your support, whether through giving, sharing their story, or praying, will make a real, tangible difference.
Through all of this, their faith has remained strong! They serve a real God, and they continue to trust His plan, hold onto hope, and walk in His joy and love. Every contribution, every prayer, and every word of encouragement helps them to continue that journey.
Thank you from the bottom of my heart for engaging in support of Steve and Bethany. Your generosity, prayers, and support mean more than words can express.
Sincerely, John Carter
