Hi, my name is Bethany. I never thought I’d ever be making one of these but sometimes life happens, right?

I grew up without dental insurance and therefore without consistent dental care. At the age of 18, I broke a molar and was unable to get proper care for it. As a result, it became badly infected and required a root canal at 19. While I could get the original procedure done and have a temporary crown put in, I was unable to afford any permanent solution.

I’ve been lucky enough to have dental insurance the last several years and fix the other issues I’ve had (and prevent any new one, thank goodness!) but I knew one day my “temporary” crown of 20yrs would fail.

That day was last week when I stole a laffy taffy from my nephew’s Halloween stash. (Face palm) My crown broke halfway up the “root” and I am now facing needing a bone graft/implant and crown. Delaying this introduces the possibility for infection or other dental issues.

Just the first half of this procedure (graft and implant) will cost just over $5000. I do have insurance but it will only cover $1300.

I dont have to tell you that it’s been rough out there as of late - exacerbated by trying to diagnose/address additional health issues from the last two years, as well as my dog needing surgery. I no longer have the space on any credit cards and only have $2k on care credit. My family is not in a position to assist in any way.

I didn’t make a high goal because I know things are difficult for anyone and because literally anything would help me chip away at the cost and keep me afloat right now. I appreciate your time.
