My name is Brittany Burrell and I am starting this gofund me for my sister Bethany. This past October, at 30 years old she received the shocking news that she has cervical cancer. She has since been told that she has stage IIB cancer and surgery is not on the table for her at this time. Her current treatment plan is to have 6 weeks of a pretty intense chemo and an additional 6 weeks of radiation (5 days a week x 6 weeks) and chemo (1 day a week x 6 weeks) totaling 12 weeks of treatment. She just completed her 1st treatment and still has a long ways to go. My sister also lives in Swannanoa and is well aware of the amount of people in need at this time due to Helene. So many ppl are struggling right now, especially with the holidays approaching. She doesn’t want to ask anybody for help but the reality is that she is a young, single mom and she is gonna need it with everything she is facing. Unfortunately, when life knocks us down the world around us doesn’t stop. Bethany will be out of work most likely the next 12 weeks and while she will be receiving some pay she will not be receiving what she is use to considering the amount of overtime she typically would work to take care of herself and the needs of her 2 kids.
