Help Beth with Unexpected Moving Expenses

Donation protected

My landlords have sold the property where I've been renting a little guest house that I dearly love, for the past 3 years. The property sold in under a week! I was told the buyers don't want a renter, which left me wondering where I was going to live. For those of you who haven’t been tracking, I certainly wasn’t, a combination of record-low mortgage rates and people spending more time at home than ever before during the pandemic only to realize they need more space or just want an upgrade, have created a real estate feeding frenzy in California. This in turn is pushing out renters and straining a rental market that was already experiencing a severe affordable housing crisis. The rental market, all over California is truly brutal, highly competitive, and frankly terrifying. I’ve been looking for a month in my current and surrounding areas and have found nothing available in my budget, let alone a place that also takes pets. Those of you who know me, know that my pets are my family, so they go where I go, end of story.

Miraculously, an opportunity opened up for me to move into a house and allows me to keep my little furry and feathered family together!! I am amazed and very grateful, as I was starting to lose hope. I came face-to-face with the realization of just how easy it is to teeter on the edge of homelessness in this country, even when you work hard and pay all your bills on time.

The big obstacle I’m now facing is the house is in Oregon and is about 800 miles away. That means a MUCH larger moving bill. All of this was dropped like a bomb in my life with no warning, I was told the day before the property was listed.  It has left me scrambling, scared, and beyond stressed. I’ve barely slept since this whole process started in early March. After everything we’ve all been through in 2020, this was the last thing I expected to be facing right now.  Asking for financial help does not come easy to me, but I just don't know how to tackle this on my own.

All money donated will go directly to moving and moving-related expenses: Truck rental or Pod service, movers to help load and unload, moving supplies, deposits, etc.

Any support will help take so much stress off of me and help me start this new chapter of my life. I am immensely grateful for your help.

Stay safe & be well,

Beth, Evie the Cat, Bravo (27 yrs old), Bodhi (14 yrs old), Jasper & JinJin (21 years old) (my little flock)
