I’m Beth, the owner and founder of Beth the Baker. I started this company with one goal: to make cookies that people actually remember. What started as a simple idea has turned into a real business that now ships nationwide, and it’s all thanks to the support of my community... and a lot of fuckin' butter.
Right now, my business is bursting at the seams. I bake in a shared commercial kitchen every weekend under strict 7-hour time blocks. I have no flexibility, can't stay late, and have little to no room to grow. I’ve maxed out what I can do in that space, but I have a chance to change that.
I’ve been offered a private kitchen space within the same facility, which would give me:
- Much more control of my baking and packing schedule
- The ability to train and manage a small team on my terms
- Room to increase production and serve more of my amazing customers
- A path toward long-term sustainability and growth
The problem? My rent will jump from $970/month to $1,870/month, and I need to cover a $1,450 security deposit to secure the space. It’s a big upfront investment, and while the numbers will make sense once I’m operating at full capacity, it’s a stretch to take on all at once.
So I'm doing something I don't usually do: asking for help. *gasps*
This fundraiser will help bridge increased rent and staffing costs for the next few months while we:
- Move into the new kitchen space
- Hire and train a part-time kitchen assistant
- Expand production to offer more cookies every week
- Stabilize operations in a space that can grow with the business
