The disease I have (and there may be more than one at play) needs to be treated by a blood replacement therapy program, where a home health nurse comes to our house once a month and administers a blood product of the component of blood I am missing (IGG-G). It's a genetic blood condition that the doctors believe I've had my entire life, but it has been getting worse and worse with age (which tracks with how I've been feeling as well).
We have applied for this treatment twice already and been denied by insurance, even though my entire team of doctors supports/has tested this diagnosis and agrees with the treatment. So...now the real question will be do we try it a third time and is now the right time to do so? The reason I've gone through the last 6 weeks or so of seemingly non-stop appts. were all because insurance asked us to rule out literally every other possibility. The blood therapy is hundreds of thousands each year, so we knew it would be a fight, but not this long of a fight.
The Specific Disease is called CVID and it is an autoimmune condition where the body doesn't make enough of the right kind of immunoglobulin to make everything function. Beth experiences severe pain in her limbs, she is losing vision in her left eye and physically has severe limitations and is often 100% reliant on her husband to get around, she has fallen and experienced memory loss on top of any number of symptoms that leave her struggling with this condition every day...
Please pray for her and help in any way that you can, my family appreciates it...
