Update: June 2026

Thank you to everyone who has donated, shared, and prayed for Beth and Emily. We wanted to provide an update on their situation.

Unfortunately, Beth and Emily lost the lawsuit involving their home. While they were granted additional time before having to move, they still have not been able to find a permanent place to live and continue searching for safe, affordable housing that will also allow them to keep their beloved pets.

At the same time, new challenges have arisen. Emily is scheduled to undergo much-needed back surgery in July as a result of injuries from their 2024 car accident. Recently, she also lost her health insurance, creating additional uncertainty and financial strain during an already difficult time.

Transportation has become another concern. Beth's aging vehicle, which is essential for medical appointments, housing searches, and daily needs, is experiencing major mechanical problems, including a failed power steering pump.

Despite these setbacks, Beth and Emily continue to push forward and trust God for guidance and provision. The need for housing assistance, moving expenses, medical-related costs, and basic stability remains urgent.

Meet Beth and Emily

Beth is a devoted mother who homeschooled her daughter, Emily, from kindergarten through high school graduation. She poured her heart into raising her and building a loving home filled with compassion, joy, and fun — not just for people, but for animals too.

Over the years, Beth and Emily have rescued several pets, giving them safe and happy lives. Their beloved dog, Winston, became family when Emily volunteered at the Greenville Humane Society; though Winston was very sick, they bonded immediately and nursed him back to health. Equally treasured members of their family are their five rescue cats: Ruby, Cookie, Jasper, Nico, and Mama Moon.​ Their home has always been a place of love, laughter, and second chances.

Beth is the kind of person you can always count on; selfless, caring, and determined. But despite her strength, life has dealt her and Emily one heartbreaking challenge after another.

A Series of Setbacks

For years, Beth has battled serious health issues, which worsened during a lengthy divorce. Then on February 2nd, 2024, Beth and Emily were in a terrible car accident that totaled their car and left both of them seriously injured. Beth required three surgeries, while Emily suffered a severe back injury. After exhausting every treatment option, doctors now say that surgery is Emily’s only hope for recovery; without it, she risks permanent nerve damage.

Both have been in physical therapy since May 2024, but Emily had to stop when it no longer helped, and Beth had to quit due to financial strain. With no reliable transportation and only a small insurance payout, the financial toll has been devastating. Their injuries have left them unable to work full-time, making it impossible to catch up.

Beth endured yet another medical setback when a simple hernia repair turned into a major operation due to surgical complications, leaving her in even more pain and with a long recovery ahead. On top of the physical pain, both are struggling with depression and exhaustion as they try to face one overwhelming challenge after another.

The Devastating News

Despite everything, Beth has fought tirelessly to keep life as stable as possible for Emily. During her divorce, she took over the mortgage to ensure they could stay in their family home. To protect it for Emily’s future, she placed the house in a trust under her mother’s name. Over the years, Beth poured her entire retirement savings into urgent repairs and upkeep, even when money was scarce and her health was failing. This house isn’t just a building, it’s Emily’s childhood home, filled with 25 years of memories, love, and laughter. But now, everything is being taken away. Beth’s aunt and sister, who both hold power of attorney for Beth’s mother, have decided to sell the home without Beth’s consent or consideration for her situation. Their decision comes despite knowing that once Beth’s mother passes, they will inherit nearly everything, leaving Beth with nothing after years of sacrifice and care. It’s an act that feels deeply unjust and heartbreaking; a betrayal by those she trusted most.

Now, with an official notice to vacate by November 30, 2025, Beth and Emily are facing the unthinkable: losing their home, their security, and the life they built together. They are devastated. Not only by the thought of losing their home, but by the pain of being forced out by family. With no funds, no safe place to go, and beloved pets they cannot abandon, Beth and Emily are overwhelmed and terrified.

They Need a Miracle

Our goal is to raise enough funds to cover moving expenses, a security deposit, and several months of rent so Beth and Emily can find stability and a safe place to heal. If, by God’s grace, this campaign grows beyond those immediate needs, we would love to help them purchase a small, affordable home of their own, a place where they can start fresh and feel secure again.

Beth and Emily are good, God-loving people who I have known for over ten years, and they have endured more than their share of hardships. They are exhausted, heartbroken, and doing everything they can to hold on to hope, but with your support, we can give them a lifeline and a future to believe in again.
