I’m Beth, and I’m creating this fundraiser for myself and my dog as we face being forced out of our apartment. I am 51 years old, a cancer survivor, and someone who has also survived homelessness, trauma, and deep loss. During my 7 years of homelessness, I was raped and drugged, and I still suffer from PTSD because of what I lived through. Over the years, I have been through more than I ever imagined, including losing my mother and carrying pain every day while feeling very alone. My children do not understand or know my side of the story, and because of that, I feel like I literally have no one. On top of that, I lost the truck I spent all my money on after a dealer sold me a stolen vehicle. I ended up spending 3 days in jail over something I did not knowingly do, and now the truck is impounded. I live on Social Security, and with only $1,200 a month, nearly everything goes to rent.
I am asking for help because I want a real chance at peace and stability in my final years. The fear of being out on the streets again at my age feels life-threatening for both me and my dog, and I truly do not know how we would survive it. Support from this fundraiser will help me and my dog find stable housing, work toward getting my truck back or another reliable vehicle, cover medical expenses, and afford basic necessities like food and water each month. Your kindness matters more than I can say. After 51 years of surviving so much, I am finally asking for help. If you are able to give, please know that your support will bring comfort, dignity, and joy to my life and help me keep going when things feel overwhelming.
