Help My Sister Beryl Rebuild After a Devastating House Fire
Early Tuesday morning on December 16th, just nine days before Christmas, Beryl Richardson’s life changed forever. She woke up from her sleep to a house fire. With no shoes on her feet, she tried with great effort to put the fire out. Tragically, the fire damaged her home and left her with severe injuries. Beryl has been displaced and is currently staying in a hotel with temporary assistance from the American Red Cross which has now ended.
Beryl has already faced tremendous challenges in her life. Five years ago, she suffered a stroke, leaving her disabled on her left side with very little use of her left hand. In the fire, she sustained first- and second-degree burns to her hands, feet, and both legs, with her right hand severely burned. Due to the seriousness of her injuries, Beryl spent three days in the ICU at the Burn Center. She is now unable to care for herself, as both hands are currently disabled.
Beryl has undergone multiple skin graft surgeries on the burned areas and faces a long road to recovery. She is scheduled to return to the Augusta Burn Center on December 30th for additional skin grafting. Following that, she will need to travel weekly from West Columbia, South Carolina to Augusta, Georgia, for continued treatment and healing.
This Christmas season—the season of giving—we are asking for help for Beryl. Your donation will assist with medical-related expenses, transportation, lodging, daily living needs, and critical home repairs, helping her move toward recovery and the possibility of returning to a safe and livable home.
Any amount helps. If you’re unable to donate, please consider sharing this fundraiser and keep Beryl in your prayers.
Thank you for your kindness, generosity, and compassion during this difficult time.
