On Sunday, June 29th, my dad Bert, brother Dayton, and Heather lost their home in the Aspen Acres Fire in Beulah, Colorado. The fire swept through their house, leaving them with nothing but two bags of clothes. Everything else—furniture, personal belongings, cherished memories—was destroyed in the blaze. The devastation has been overwhelming, and the reality of starting over is sinking in for all of us.

Dayton had to leave for college the very next day, June 30th, with only what he could quickly pack up. He’s now facing the challenge of beginning his college journey without the supplies and comforts he had planned to take. Meanwhile, my dad and Heather are trying to figure out how to rebuild their lives from scratch, searching for temporary housing and replacing essential items like clothing, food, and medications.
