Our dear friends, Bert and Cheryl, were involved in a devastating head-on collision. Cheryl was seriously injured—she suffered a broken pelvis, hip, internal bleeding, and a fractured femur. Her injuries were so severe that the local hospital on the Big Island couldn’t provide the care she needed, and she had to be airlifted to O‘ahu for specialized treatment.

She underwent a major surgery where doctors were able to rebuild her pelvis and hip. While the surgery was a success, Cheryl now faces a long road to recovery and will need to spend time in a rehabilitation facility on O‘ahu.

Bert, who was also injured in the crash, is by Cheryl’s side and unable to work right now. This sudden and life-altering accident has brought overwhelming emotional and financial stress. Between medical bills, travel costs, and time away from work, the burden has been heavy.
