**I want to start by saying that the only reason I'm creating this GoFundMe is because several generous people have expressed a desire to support my cause. I'm not expecting anything huge, as it would be a massive ask to ask for donations to get me back to exactly where I was with money spent, or even close, but any support is greatly appreciated. Your contributions will help cover my ambulance bill and future safety gear (which will be purchased quite possibly even before I find another track car), giving me a much-needed head start in getting back to where I once was in my racing career. Any extra funds I have left will go straight towards a new track car. Thank you for considering helping me revive my motorsport passion safely and responsibly.**
Life has a way of throwing both blessings and challenges at us simultaneously, and my journey in motorsport has been a testament to that. On one hand, I experienced the joy of finally acquiring a track-dedicated car—a dream setup. I poured my heart, soul, and savings into getting the car race-ready, spending countless days and sleepless nights figuring out how to make sure the car was ready for it's first event, Backbone Hillclimb 2024. The thrill of seeing my hard work come to life on the track was indescribable.
But fate had other plans. During what was supposed to be a milestone event in my racing career, disaster struck. After an exhilarating first day, my joy turned to heartbreak as a catastrophic crash on the second day left my car a total write-off. The engine also more than likely barely salvageable. Even my race suit, which I had recently purchased and got to wear at only one event prior, had to be cut off by paramedics, and my helmet was damaged deeming it no longer useable.
The lucky part? I survived. Trapped upside down in the car with no roll cage and only a regular lap sash seatbelt, I was rescued thanks to the incredible medics, tow truck operators, fire crews, and volunteers present at the event. I was rushed to Flinders hospital and, after three days of every scan and test under the sun, I emerged with only a fractured spine. It could have been so much worse, and for that, I am profoundly grateful.
The mental toll of the crash has been significant. Reliving the accident through GoPro footage, dealing with the frustration of lost progress, and grappling with the emotional aftermath have been incredibly challenging. But the outpouring of support from friends, family, and the racing community has been a beacon of hope.
I am now more determined than ever to return to the track. Safety will be my top priority—my next car will undoubtedly have a roll cage installed before any performance upgrades. This experience has taught me the importance of prioritizing safety, and I want to continue pursuing my passion for motorsport with just as much enthusiasm as ever.
This is where I need your help. To rebuild my dream, I am starting a GoFundMe campaign to help alleviate some of the financial stress of the ambulance cost, and ensuring I can continue my dream and passion sooner rather than later. Your support will not only help me get back on track but also ensure that I do so safely and responsibly. Every donation, no matter how small, will bring me one step closer to reigniting my racing career and achieving my dreams.
If donating money isn't your thing, and you would like to offer support in any other way, please reach out and I will be more than happy to chat.
Thank you for being part of this journey and for helping me turn this setback into a comeback.
