Hi everyone,

My name is Hessey Mae and I’m reaching out for help for my dad, Bernardo M. Daroy, who is currently in the hospital at Peter Lougheed Centre in Calgary, Alberta.

My dad came here from the Philippines to help me take care of my kids during a busy time for our family. Sadly, just a few days he became very sick with a high fever, severe pain, and difficulty walking. We rushed him to the emergency room on October 12, and he was immediately admitted to the hospital.

After several tests, doctors found that he had a serious blood infection (Staphylococcus aureus bacteremia) and problems with his liver and bile ducts. He had to undergo a procedure called ERCP to help drain his bile duct and is now recovering under close monitoring.

Because my dad is a visitor in Canada, he does not have any medical insurance, and we are responsible for all hospital and treatment costs. We have already been told that the bills could be very high. He is still under antibiotic treatment, and we are trying to prepare for his return to the Philippines on October 28, but the medical expenses are overwhelming for us.
