Help Beren get his Surgery
Donation protected
Hi, my name is Mollyanne and I'm fundraising on behalf of my dog, Beren. He's a two-and-a-half-year-old Pomeranian and he's in desperate need of surgery. He's been diagnosed with 2nd-3rd grade bilateral patellar luxation, which means that his kneecaps shift in and out of alignment. The vet who was examining him said that Beren's joints shifted multiple times in the few minutes he was looking at him.
Beren did not show any symptoms of this condition until this last summer, where during a walk he started limping and couldn't put weight on it. Then it started occurring every couple of walks, then every time if we went for too long. Even playing indoors, his patella will pop out of place if he gets too excited.
The greatest cause for concern is that it will continue to cause him pain and result in osteoarthritis. The only treatment available is to surgically modify the joint so that the patella stays in place, but this will eliminate the pain and risk of osteoarthritis. My husband and I are in college and don't have much money, but we love this young pup with all of our hearts. He has kept us sane through lockdowns and has done more than his duty as an emotional support animal.
Beren is the friendliest dog you will meet. He'll jump into your arms as soon as he gets close enough. His favorite thing to do is lick your toes! We don't get it, but he'd lick all the way to your knees if you let him. This probably connects to his need to steal our socks, right off our feet sometimes if we don't pay attention. He's been our late-night study buddy. Despite his size, he loves to go on hikes and walks but his favorite place in the world is curled up, right in our laps. He's been with us since he was four months old and we have a responsibility to him. Please help us do right by this dog who has nothing but love in his heart. All we want for Christmas is for our Beren to be healed. Any little bit helps, thank you.
