Hi everyone. I regret to inform you that Bentley passed away on 7/7/2025 at home. We took him home in the afternoon on 7/6/2025. The ER vet informed us that he did not respond to the aggressive IV therapy typically used to treat acute kidney injuries. They suspect the injury was caused by the anesthesia & contrast used for the CT scan, as his bloodwork and everything was normal beforehand. Everyone said that my little soldier fought hard. The 1st day (7/3/2025), his kidney values went higher. The 2nd day, he fought so hard that it went down a little bit. We had a little bit of hope. Unfortunately, Bentley was too weak to keep fighting on the 3rd day- so his kidney values went back up. They gave him only 24 hours left to live once we discharged him. Again, he fought so hard that he lived until 7:42pm on the 7th, when he was finally put to rest. The whole day, his breathing kept getting shallower and shallower. He was way less responsive and weak. He did not want to eat as much as he can compared to the previous night. I knew it was time. He had a fun-filled day full of his favorite foods and things to do. We did our daily routine. His favorite place to be was wherever I was. I was his home and he was mine. I hope that I was able to fulfill all his last wishes. I knew he just wanted to be home and away from the hospital to spend his remaining time with us. Thank you for following along with us on this eventful journey. We are still in need of donations and shares. Anything helps. The total left is around ~13k to 14k. I have not been able to calculate the exact as I have been grieving. I will post pictures of the last few bills here as soon as I can. Again, thank you everyone for your support and your condolences.

All vet bills and estimates have been posted below under updates. We are hoping to at least raise enough for his surgery (estimate 8-15k). Our care credit cards are almost maxed out. We are unable to pay for the surgery upfront when the time comes. Bentley will have a CT scan done on 6/30. Once we find out more, we will update! Thank you everyone for your support and prayers.

Bentley is home and on pain meds to help him stay comfortable until his surgery consultation tomorrow morning. He seems to be doing better in terms of comfort. I will update the posts with what the board certification surgeon recommends, and what the exact cost would be.

Bentley is currently being hospitalized at the ICU.
Hi, my name is Charisse. I am Bentley's owner. What we thought was just stress from us leaving for vacation in a long time, turned out to be far worse. On June 1, my family returned from a trip. When we arrived at 6pm, Bentley was his usual self. About 2 hours later for dinnertime, he was refusing to eat and lethargic. This was totally out of character for him but we didnt suspect he got into anything. I called the vet to schedule an appointment for June 10th. The day of the appointment, his abdomen seemed to be full and firm. This was concerning to me. The vet assured me since he was not showing pain, had firm stools, and was bright- he seemed fine initially. They took xrays to determine why his belly was appearing the way it was and found 2 small metal filaments. This is where I discovered from my family members that he was by the grill the night we came back. The vet said to fast him and have xrays done on June 12th, the next day. With the 2nd set of xrays, they saw that it was not moving through normally. Again, they told me since he was bright and alert that it was not too much of a concern. They scheduled me for an ultrasound for June 20th. I went to the vet and dropped him off at 9am, picked him up at 2pm, and the vet called me with results at 6pm. The vet found that the filaments have moved in a place where they are potentially able to penetrate his stomach and kidneys. They also found a tumor on his left adrenal gland. My whole world shattered. About 3 hours ago, I found Bentley restless, pacing, and again stomach full & firm. We are now at the ER. The passionate doctor here is informing that our usual vet should have treated this more urgently. She said that they shouldn't have waited so long in-between each step. especially concering his age and size. They are recommending hospitalization, surgery, and biopsy of the mass that our usual vet found. The funds from this GoFundMe will first be used to pay for Bentley's surgery and the biopsy. It is required that the payment is made before they proceed. I hope to have this done ASAP. I cannot bare to see him like this. With false assurance from our usual vet that he would be fine, I find myself feeling guilty for it letting it get this far. After the procedure is complete, I plan to use the funds for any post recovery medicine and check-ups. I recently lost my full-time job and have already maxxed out the credit cards I can use for him. I am so full of guilt and pray for Bentley to feel better and recover from this. He is my soul dog. He is 12 years old and 6 lbs, but has so much life left. He still acts like he's 5 years old. I cant imagine my life without him. He is my son, my soul dog. Anything helps. I will be so eternally grateful. Thank you. - Charisse & Bentley
