My name is Kristie. I am Bentley Defino’s mama and I love this doggie more then anything and everything in this entire universe. After a bunch of test and realizing there’s something wrong with Bentley with a huge lump on his right Apex, we were back-and-forth to all sorts of vets and surgeons for the last several weeks when we finally got the diagnosis of hemangiosarcoma, we have been absolutely devastated and our hearts our broken. Bentley still acts like Bentley and he still a happy boy, but this ugly thing is growing and growing fast, it cannot be operated on or chemo treated at the moment, the main treatment to slow it down and give Bentley a good quality of life with some more time. And so After talking with his oncologist that treatment would be SRT radiation. It’s pretty costly but we have to try. Right. he’ll need to do another round of scans and MRI to make sure it hasn’t spread to his spine yet. And we are hopeful it hasn’t. He is walking and not showing pain. The radiation will shrink this tumor down to give him more time here with us and also the possibility of chemo following radiation to SLOW the spread of this cancer down, (once we shrink the tumor). We’re hoping with all this it gets Bentley through the holidays and if he responds well to the radiation it could be a miracle for him to get to his 6th birthday in June, we are truly hoping. Our lives here have changed and trying to navigate through the days with Bentleys new diagnosis has been heart wrenching. This was nothing we saw coming but cancer is here and now we wanna fight for Bentleys time. While he is happy and still eating and in no pain. Before this tumor becomes more angry. Anything helps as the 5 treatment of radiation and new set of scans are going to be close to 16k. We’re going to do it. Just hoping for a lil help along the way to get our lil Bentley some more time.
