Help Bentley, age 4, attacked by family dog

Bentley Neal (age 4) was playing on his tablet, at home, when he was brutally attacked by the  family dog on February 11th, 2021 at approximately 5:15pm.  Bentley’s mother, Renee Knowles, witnessed this unprovoked event occur, and immediately reacted instinctively.  Bentley was transported by ambulance to Northern Light Eastern Maine Medical Center where he was evaluated for the injuries he sustained.   After further analysis, providers concluded that Bentley required emergency surgery at a facility that was capable of handling the delicate care he needed.  

With a large open wound covering roughly 20% of Bentley’s head (with full bone exposure), he was transported by ambulance to Mass General in Boston to undergo emergency surgery; and attempt to use the missing specimen from his head (which his mother collected instinctively)- followed by multiple scanned imaging needed for a small brain bleed.

unfortunately, pediatric surgeons were unable to utilize the detached “specimen”, and Bentley is awaiting the second, of several surgeries, in the pediatric Intensive Care Unit At Massachusetts General in  Boston, MA.   His mother, Renee, has children at home in Maine that are praying for their brother’s progress.  

Bentley, is Renee’s youngest child and my Godson.  She has stayed by his side at Mass General but has realized that
she needs help from others to be there for all three of her children in the next several weeks leading to Bentley being able to go home.
