Help Benson Get the Surgery He Deserves – Urgent Eye Surgery

Donation protected
If you've reached this far, thank you for taking the time to read about the horrific abuse and neglect that Benson has endured and the cruel conditions he was forced to live under.

Meet Benson, an 8-year-old Pied American Bulldog who has suffered unimaginable torment at the hands of his previous owners. For over two years, Benson was chained up in an allotment in Rochdale, Manchester. His owners left him in a shed, where he received no care and only intermittent scraps of food—sometimes nothing for weeks. By the time he was rescued, Benson was severely emaciated, 15kg underweight, and in excruciating pain from untreated conditions.

His nails had grown down into the pads of his feet, causing him severe pain, and he was forced to walk on his knuckles just to avoid the agony. He ate as much as he could when food was available, causing severe distention from eating all he could at once, knowing that his next meal might be weeks away. In addition to his physical suffering, Benson had severe ear infections and Entropion in both eyes.

Entropion is a condition where the eyelids roll inward, rubbing against the surface of the eye and causing pain, inflammation, and the risk of blindness if untreated. This condition was directly caused by his starvation and years of neglect. Benson needs urgent eye surgery to save his vision and stop his suffering.

The Rescue Journey:

Despite multiple reports to the RSPCA, nothing was done to help Benson. On the few occasions they did show up, they left notes on the wire fence but did not enter the property to investigate. Cloud Knine Rescue, owned by Sarah Topley, pretended to assume responsibility for Benson's care, but her involvement was not genuine.

Sarah Topley lied, claiming that she had received a quote from her veterinary surgery stating that Benson's surgery for Entropion would cost £300 - £400 in total for his surgery and that she would pay half. She assured that she would cover 50% of the costs for this surgery, and her words were taken in good faith. Unfortunately, this promise was not kept, and Sarah Topley has now reneged on her commitment, leaving Benson in a vulnerable position. It has since been discovered that these cost quoted our way of what is required for this type of surgery!

Benson was taken to Lincs Farm & Equine Ltd, a veterinary clinic owned by Jefrey Chakwenya, where he was first examined on April 11th, 2025. The vet confirmed that Benson’s condition was severe, and urgent surgery was needed to treat his Entropion. At that time, Sarah Topley promised that she would cover the costs of Benson’s eye surgery once he had gained enough weight to safely undergo the anesthesias.

Lincs Farm & Equine Ltd is a registered company under the name Lincs Farm & Equine Ltd, with the company registration number 15964883.

Benson was then placed into the care of Natasha Dwyer, a kind-hearted foster parent, on April 16th, 2025. Under Natasha's care, Benson has been gaining weight and confidence. However, despite the written agreement and promise made by Sarah Topley, she has completely reneged on her commitment to follow through with the surgery and other medical treatments for Benson, including addressing the growth on his left front leg near his armpit.

The situation has now become urgent, and Benson needs help to receive a blood test and

the eye surgery he desperately needs. The total cost of the surgery is £2200. The surgery is critical to relieve Benson from the daily pain he endures. Without it, Benson risks losing his vision and continuing to suffer for the rest of his life.

Benson’s story has been heartbreaking from the very beginning, but with help from kind-hearted individuals, his future can be filled with love, comfort, and health. He has shown remarkable strength and resilience, and under the care of Natasha, he’s begun to trust again. But he still has a long road ahead.

Benson is a sweet, loving dog who has known nothing but pain, and he deserves a chance to live a happy, healthy life. Your support can give Benson the future he deserves.

Thank you so much for taking the time to read Benson’s story. If you are able to donate, your support will be a lifeline for him. Every small amount adds up, and together, Benson can receive the care he needs.

Without getting into any more of a debacle with this woman, it has been decided to move on and ask for help from all of you caring people, as Benson's future hugely depends on it. Whilst I write this I am more than aware that there will be plenty of aggressors out there who through their pervasive entitlement will begin their vitriol, we will rise above this and should anybody need any proof of what I've written, I can assure you it will be provided. The only and most important factor here is getting the help that is needed for this beautiful boy, so that he can enjoy the rest of his life healthy and happy, and I thank all of you in advance for any help you may wish to give.
