Hello everyone, I’m Ben Ganley and I have been selected to represent Australia in the U18 World Wood Bat Association Championship which is held in Florida USA from 10 – 14 October 2024.

Earlier this year, I was selected to represent South Australia at the Australian Youth Championships in January 2024. The AYC had over 140 players from across the country. Following a solid performance at the AYC, I was selected for the Team Australia Under 18 team as a catcher. This is an achievement that I am incredibly proud of.

The Under 18 Team Australia tour departs for the USA on 4 October 2024. We will play in the highest level of tournaments of 2024. The tour will include games in front of a big audience of scouts and US college recruiters, while coming up against the best high-school players in the USA (some of whom are already committed to top Division 1 colleges). There are also many potential high MLB draft picks playing in these tournaments.

This is an amazing chance for me to play in front of all the top junior colleges and professional organisations in the USA, meet people from all over the world and I get to represent my country wearing the green and gold. I also get to represent my local club Adelaide Angels, and all of the people who have helped support me in my baseball journey so far.

The Team Australia tour is unfortunately not funded in anyway, and I must cover all costs myself. The total cost is $7,500. This is together with my expenses as part of the Baseball SA High Performance program, also costing $1,980.
