Help Benji Recover from a Vicious Attack

My dog Benji needs help. My name is Michael McCarthy and my dog Benji was attacked by a big dog. He’s a cute, energetic and fun chihuahua/Jack Russel. I don’t have children so for me, he is like my little boy. He was originally my girlfriends mom’s dog But he immediately bonded with me. After her mom got sick, we started taking care of him and I’ve had him ever since. I am his person and we just love hanging out and playing together. He’s seriously my best friend. I work out of town every week so every Friday when I come home and get to see the look on his face and how excited he gets, it means the world to me. It was really tough when I got back from the emergency vet the first night. I opened the door and he wasn’t trying to shove his way through to see me with his tail wagging. He’s always wants to be next to his papa and mama. ❤️

Heres what happened: I was out on a walk with my Benji on a leash at my apartment and we were approached by three big dogs. I tried to pull him away but one of the dogs grabbed him by the neck and ran away with him. I tried to get him but was unable to until other neighbors got involved and helped get the dogs separated away from my Benji. I thought he was dead. But he wasn’t, he was in shock with multiple lacerations on his neck, chest and back.

We rushed him to the emergency vet where he received X-rays and pain medication. We were told he had two fractured bones in his neck, a swollen eye and deep lacerations. He will require surgery and more care. This funding will help because he needs CT scans and he will also require spinal surgery to repair his fractures in his neck. His foot also has nerve damage which will have to be addressed when they see how it starts to heel or if it heels.
