**Update**

Happy New Year, everyone. For my family and me, last year ended in a nightmare with the scariest medical mystery. Our 10-year-old son could ever face.

Because of your overwhelming kindness, generosity, and constant prayers, we are beginning 2026 with what feels like a dream come true. Benji is out of the hospital. He is walking on his own, participating in outpatient physical therapy, and once again enjoying the simple, joyful things that 10-year-old boys love to do with their friends.

Jan 6th, he returned to school with accommodations, half days, elevator access, and a quiet room, while he continues to heal. Our journey is not over. We are now preparing for the next phase of his treatment and recovery, including upcoming spleen surgery. While the road ahead is still uncertain, your support has lifted an enormous weight from our shoulders.

Your generous donations are helping us cover the medical bills we’ve already received, and those we know are still to come. As I remain unpaid while taking time off work to care for my son, this support is truly keeping our family afloat. Help Benji Heal and Get Back to Being a Kid

Our sweet Benji is currently in the hospital undergoing extensive testing and treatment, and he is in a great deal of pain. What began as a frightening medical mystery has now been identified as a serious autoimmune condition that causes lesions on his brain and spinal cord, sending his immune system into overdrive. On top of this, doctors have also discovered a large mass on his spleen that requires ongoing monitoring and care.

The road ahead is uncertain and will likely be long. Benji is facing continued hospital stays, specialist care, and what we anticipate will be long-term physical therapy as his body heals and relearns how to do the things that once came so easily.

Right now, our focus is on helping Benji recover—reducing his pain, stabilizing his condition, and giving him the best possible chance to fully heal. Longer term, our hope is to support him in getting back to the things he loves most: playing sports, running around with friends, and simply being an active, joyful kid.

The financial burden of ongoing medical bills, therapies, travel, and time away from work is significant. We’re asking for support to help cover these costs so his family can focus on Benji’s recovery and well-being.
