Our sweet cat Benji is currently hospitalized after a sudden and terrifying medical emergency. His temperature spiked to 106°, and although it has come down to 103° with treatment, he is still very sick and under constant veterinary care. He is receiving IV fluids, his tongue is swollen and ulcerated, and the medical team is waiting on a surgical consult to further evaluate his mouth and airway. Toxication is suspected, but they are still working to determine the full cause.

Right now, the focus is stabilizing him and continuing supportive care. There’s a chance he may need a feeding tube, and ongoing hospitalization, monitoring, and treatment to recover.

Benji isn’t just a cat — he has become part of our family in such a short time. He brings so much joy to our home and is especially loved by our two little boys, who adore him and ask about him constantly. Seeing him like this has been heartbreaking.
