On the morning of May 22nd, Benjamin woke up for work like any other day, only that morning was not like any other day. He woke up feeling off; he was having chest pains that did not feel normal. After a few hours of dealing with the pain, he decided to drive himself to the hospital, thinking it would just be a routine checkup, and they would send him on his way. To his surprise, this is where doctors informed him that his entire life was about to change. He was suffering from a heart attack, where 3 of the 4 main arteries in his heart were clogged. He needed to have triple bypass surgery. They rushed him to the ICU while doctors came up with a plan for emergency surgery. Because not only was he actively having a heart attack, his blood pressure was through the roof, and he also unknowingly had diabetes. After 4 days of medication to control the diabetes and blood pressure, on day 5, he was finally ready for surgery. He headed into what was expected to be a 5-hour heart surgery. And 12 hours later, his surgery was complete, and he was placed in recovery. He made it! After a few days in the ICU, Ben was well enough to be put into a regular hospital room, and a few days after that, he was sent home to start the real recovery. Feeling great and having a new lease on life, that feeling was quickly gone when real life began to sink in. Medical bills, medications, rent, bills, food, etc. Ben is a hard-working man, a husband, and son that takes care of everyone around him who is eager to get back to work, but unfortunately, his body and doctors say he needs to rest and recover for a few months before he can get back to work. So, with bills and stress building, this is where we come in to help. We are starting this GoFundMe for Ben to take some of the stress off his plate and allow him to recover with some peace of mind so his family and friends can get the Benjamin we all know and love back on his feet and better than ever.
