On Sunday morning, our world changed in an instant. My husband, Benjamin Wade Collins, was involved in a devastating 4-wheeler accident on NC Highway 211 in West End. A pothole caused the tire to pop off the rim, sending the ATV out of control. Emergency responders acted quickly, and due to the severity of his injuries, Ben was airlifted to UNC Hospital. Doctors confirmed that Benjamin suffered an open compound fracture to his femur and kneecap, with the bone breaking through the skin. His recovery will be long, painful, and uncertain—he may not be able to walk properly for a long time.

Benjamin is not just the heart of our family—he’s the sole provider for our household and the owner of B&A Fencing Co., a business he built from the ground up. He’s always been the first to help others in our community, whether it’s donating to local causes or providing hotel stays for people in need. Now, with him unable to work, our family is facing enormous hospital and surgery bills, recovery and therapy costs, and the loss of our main source of income. His employees, who depend on him for their own families, are also affected.

Ben is an amazing father to our three children and a devoted partner. Our home feels empty without his laughter and strength. With the holidays approaching, the thought of not being able to provide a warm meal or gifts for our children is heartbreaking. The cost of daily living—groceries, gas, and basic needs—feels overwhelming on top of everything else. I am doing my best to hold everything together, but the financial and emotional strain is more than I can bear alone.
