Benjamin Boerner is an Uber Eats driver who has been experiencing homelessness over the past year in West L.A. He's a mechanic by trade who has worked in various gig jobs over the past few years. After being evicted at the start of the COVID-19 pandemic, he has struggled to find housing, food, and other necessities.

In the past few months, Benjamin's situation has taken an even worse turn after contracting COVID. On Friday, April 9, the unthinkable happened: His father died after a battle with cancer. Benjamin only learned about his father's death two days later. He was extremely close to his father and wants to be able to attend his upcoming funeral in Tennessee, but currently he struggles to afford to eat more than a single meal and buying a plane ticket is currently out of the question.

On the day of his father's death, Benjamin did not have the luxury of taking time to grieve, and spent all of Sunday frantically looking for places to store his belongings so that he could spend the night doing deliveries. In addition to hoping to raise enough money to buy a plane ticket home, he is struggling to pay the bills he currently has, and most importantly needs to raise enough to be able to rent an apartment so he can find full-time employment.

Benjamin needs funds in order to:

- Be able to fly back home (Tennessee) to attend the funeral of his father
- Be able to afford a place to live. As long as he has no permanent address, he cannot feasibly get a full-time job.
- Be able to eat. As of now, Benjamin struggles to eat more than a single meal every day, and this has taken a massive physical toll over the last year. On the day he found out about his father's death, the only thing in his stomach was black coffee he drank in the morning.

For Benjamin, every hour counts, and he needs funds immediately to survive. No human being should have to worry about where they'll be able to sleep or get their next meal, let alone struggle to even be able to attend the funeral services of a loved one.
