Help Benito Walk Again: Donate for Surgery

Hi my name is Maria Baez. About 3 years ago for my youngest daughter’s birthday we got her a sweet frenchie that we named Benito after bad bunny . We noticed that sometimes Benito would go a day or two without eating. We kept thinking maybe it was his food and that it wasn’t a major issue . Then back in June Benito had diarrhea and began shaking , he could barely walk by himself , he could no longer jump on the couch . We ended up taking him to the vet on JUNE 20th the doctor said his main issue was dehydration which we figured was from his diarrhea . He was given and IV and stayed at the vet for a couple hours but I think this is when his issues first started to worsen . He didn’t get better afterwards so we took him to the vet again the very next morning when the vet opened . He was given an X-RAY which showed there wasn’t anything wrong. But he was given steroids , anti-botics , and pain meds . We were also told he probably shouldn’t be walking up the stairs at our apartment so we started carrying him up and down . Afterwards he seemed to get better and we stopped feeding him kibble and started feeding him home cooked food specifically for frenchies . Everything was fine til AUGUST 16 . I had left the house to drop off my husband and when I came home my oldest daughter informed me that he has began shaking again even tho he was fine when I had left . Sunday he slept most the day , wasn’t eating again so I was hand feeding him and forcing him to drink water to prevent dehydration again but later that night when we took him off the bed we noticed he didn’t lift his leg to pee like any male dog usually does . Today MONDAY AUGUST 18TH we took Benito to the vet because last night he woke up at 3am and was sitting straight up panting and would not sleep. At the vet she took a medical tong and squeezed between his toes and he had no reaction. We found out today that Benito has INTERVERTEBRAL DISC DISEASE (IVDD) and has lost complete feeling and movement from his waist down. The surgery for Benito is 10,000 that we do not have. I work pay check to pay check and do everything I can to keep my family happy. We are doing everything we can to keep him comfortable while we wait to see if we raise the money for his surgery.I do not want my youngest daughter to lose her best friend. I don’t want my family to lose a member. Benito is not just a dog . He is a SON to me and my husband . A BROTHER to both my daughters and a vital part of our family. This is the last decision I have so I do not have to put our baby down. Anything would help to save Benito and we are grateful for even a single dollar. The photo of him in his cage if from today as we found out firm surfaces are the best for him. Thank you for listening to his story
