Benito is my 4-year-old dog, and I’ve had him since 2022. He’s been with me through some of the biggest transitions of my life graduating high school, starting college, and now my final semester at Belmont University. He’s my constant companion and has brought so much comfort and joy to my life. This past weekend, Benito suddenly became unable to walk and began urinating blood. We rushed him to the vet, where doctors discovered his abdomen was filled with blood due to unknown trauma. He’s been hospitalized since Saturday, receiving emergency and ICU care. While his blood levels and overall condition have improved, doctors later found lung bruising and air in his chest, which means he now needs oxygen support and a chest tap procedure. This has extended his hospital stay and significantly increased the cost of his care. At this time, the veterinary team is still unsure of the exact cause of what happened, but they are continuing to treat Benito aggressively and monitor him closely as he recovers. I’m currently in my final semester at Belmont University, taking 17 credit hours while also working a 20-hour-for-credit internship. This emergency has been completely unexpected, and I’m doing everything I can to make sure Benito gets the care he needs. Any support helps more than I can put into words, and even sharing our story means the world to us. Thank you for helping me fight for Benito.
