Help Benita with hospital medical expenses
Donation protected
Hi, My name is Danielle and many of you know my mom, Benita. You either know her from work, through my dad, you are family/friends of our family, or you grew up in our house as a friend of myself or my siblings. Regardless of how you know her, you know she is one of the most caring and selfless people you will ever meet. She has dedicated her life to her family and to helping victims of sexual assault, domestic abuse, and human trafficking, as well as volunteering her time to educating her community on these topics.
2021 has been a hard year for my mom (as well as many others) as she not only lost her mom to Covid Pneumonia earlier this year, but her step dad as well just a few weeks later. Wednesday, September 8th, 2021 at 12:30 AM, my mom needed to seek medical attention due to heart attack symptoms and difficulty breathing, which not only resulted in an ambulance ride, but a 4 day stay in Pensacola Baptist hospital in Pensacola, Florida. During this stay she was diagnosed with Pneumonia and Takotsubo Cardiomyopathy (which is quite literally broken heart syndrome). Takotsubo Cardiomyopathy is caused by many things but in this cause it was a traumatic and emotional event, the death of both of my grandparents. It is also mimics heart attack symptoms, can enlarge your heart, changes the shape of your heart, and weakens it. Because of this, my moms heart is currently working at approximately 35%. Along with countless blood tests, covid tests, medications for not only her heart and lungs but also insulin (which is very costly) to regulate her blood sugar levels due to the antibiotics and steroids, but she also had to have a cardiac catheterization to ensure there were no blockages causing the sluggish-ness in her heart, an echocardiogram and multiple chest x-rays. Before my mom left the hospital, she had an A-FIB episode and had to receive more medication. She was discharged from the hospital today, September 11th, 2021 and was sent with a prescription of 6 medications to finish recovering in the comfort of her own home.
As you can imagine, this will be extremely costly with a trip to a mini ER, an ambulance ride, a hospital stay and more testing than you can imagine. To help mitigate some of the stress of this financial burden (and hopefully prevent this from happening again) of this event, as well as her follow up visit costs, we are asking for help anyone can provide from family, friends and strangers alike. Our family deeply appreciates every single penny donated and even if you cannot donate at this time, any shares or positive vibes and prayers are also hugely appreciated. Thank you for taking the time to read all of this.
