Help Benard Kaumba complete his University degree.

Benard Kaumba is one of the founding members of an NGO called Circus Zambia; a social circus enterprise that mentors and teaches children from the local compounds. He grew up in Chibolya, which is one of the poorest and most dangerous compounds in Zambia. As a child, he went to school but often could not afford the necessities to remain in classes. One of those requirements was that he wear shoes. When he had no shoes to wear, he would put rocks in his backpack and tell his teachers they were his shoes. Benard wanted an education.

(This is Benard's second appeal in 2 years. Please read below.)

I am very thankful to tell you that I have started my journey to get my B.A. in ACCOUNTS (accounting) and my biggest achievement is that I am now in the second semester at ZCAS here in Lusaka, Zambia. It’s been an amazing journey, just sitting at my desk and having a lecturer of accounts coming in to educate us and waiting to see my results in the continuous assessments. Thank you so very much for the support and for making this dream to be in class a reality, this time with all the necessary materials in place. This is a feeling I will cherish forever - this opportunity to be able to get my higher education - and one I take very seriously.

While in school I have also brought in Stanley Kundelungu to help with bookkeeping at Circus Zambia. I am mentoring Stan and sharing this knowledge which I am getting from school! He loves it and reminds me of myself. He is giving me the motivation to push and work harder so that my dream can come true. To be honest, it feels like a dream that I am back in school, and I can imagine what it will feel like when I have my B.A., the feeling of having security, the key to a better life, a better future, and the opportunities that will open for both me and Circus Zambia. The freedom to run our finance systems feeling like I belong because I have the knowledge is what I am fighting so hard to achieve.

I see these opportunities that will open doors for me and Circus Zambia. When I am done with my B.A., Circus Zambia will be ready to grow the next generation, creating sustainability from within. In growing our NGO, we are helping so many underprivileged young people. All of this will take both Circus Zambia and me to the next place.

These dreams and ambitions are big but they are within reach and are possible with the generous support of our contributors. So, I am here again asking for your support, and I hope you’ll consider helping by making a donation towards my future and that of Circus Zambia. I am working on raising $3000 in order to pay for my University tuition, books, supplies, and examination fees. This will allow me to complete University Degree in the next two years.
