Ben is a hard working self employed person with his own window tinting business of 15 years + with excellent customer service ,his customer love him .

he is a well respected businessman but unfortunately due to covid ,he suffered loses in business and traveled to Colombia for respite .
His life has suddenly been cut short with this unfortunate medical emergency.
What: 10 days in a coma ,alone ,without the ability to contact next of kin .

Mr *** , Ben’s neighbour, contacted us (our out-of-hours team) late in the evening of Sunday 7 March. We organised a translator for the conversation and Mr *** let us know that he had called an ambulance as he heard a call for help from Ben. Mr***travelled to the hospital with Ben.
- We contacted the hospital - Hospital Universitario del Valle - to request a status update on Ben, they said he was in ICU and that they were conducting tests to find out what had happened.
- My colleague at the British Embassy in Bogotá spoke to Mr ***on Monday who reiterated what had happened.
- We spoke to the hospital again on Monday. Dr ********* confirmed that Ben had had a stroke and the right side of his body was severely affected, he also showed signs of a significant speech impairment.
- On Tuesday my colleague called the hospital for an update. Dr ***** ,but they continued to monitor. Dr **** confirmed one more time that although the social worker has been following up with Ben and has attempted to obtain Next of Kin detail
- On Thursday my colleague called the social worker and asked again if she could speak to Ben directly. She spoke in English and Ben spoke in Spanish, she asked Ben if he would like her to speak in Spanish and he said that either was fine, and continued to speak in Spanish.
