Help Support Ben Lazzio – Battling Stage 3C Colon Cancer

Hello everyone,

I’m reaching out on behalf big brother, Ben Lazzio. Ben is a hardworking 36 Year-Old from Burlington, Wisconsin, who is now facing the fight of his life—Stage 3C colon cancer.

Ben recently underwent an intensive surgery to remove a horseshoe-sized tumor. He is now receiving aggressive chemotherapy treatments aggressive chemotherapy treatments every 2 weeks for the next 6-months. Despite the physical and emotional toll, Ben remains incredibly brave and determined.

Ben is a truck driver by trade and a proud volunteer firefighter for the Town Burlington Fire Department as of 10 Years strong . He’s always been the kind of person to step up and help others, but now he finds himself needing help from his community.

Due to his illness, Ben is unable to return to work, and disability benefits were unfortunately denied. To make matters worse, he may soon lose his health insurance through his trucking company, leaving him with the overwhelming burden of medical expenses, prescriptions, and daily.

Ben’s parents are doing everything they can to support him along with his little sister Janine Lazzio (me) & his other brother Mike Lazzio. But the financial strain is becoming more than they can handle alone.

It’s not easy for Ben to ask for help, but with the support of family, friends, and the community, we hope to show him he’s not in this fight alone.

Every donation—big or small—will make a difference and help relieve some of the financial pressure, allowing Ben to focus fully on his recovery.

Thank you from the bottom of our hearts for your kindness, prayers, and support during this incredibly difficult time.

Ben’s Story:

Hello everyone! You may all wonder why I have been super silent lately, as some of you already know, and this is for all of you now to know. On April 2nd I went for a colonoscopy to figure out what was making me so sick, and now we have the answer. I was recently diagnosed with stage 3C adenocarcinoma colon cancer, yes I said that right I have cancer. On April 15th I had surgery to remove the tumor and 31 lymph nodes, we'll unfortunately it had spread to 20 of those. The tumor was 2.25 inches or 6cm big which it stayedlocalizedfor the most part. Last Tuesday I had a port installed for the chemo treatments, I started my first chemo treatment yesterday and am in really good spirits all things considered. The reason I hadn't said anything is because I didn't have all the info I needed like staging and everything else. The only answer we don't have until June sometime to figure out was it my blood pressure medicine, was it all the toxic firefighter foam we have used or even if it's hereditary those are the only questions I have that remain. I truly appreciate everyone who has already done so much for me by checking on me and everything! It totally means a lot to me! I also never expected this to ever happen especially at 36 years of age and as healthy as I am but this is proof it can happen to anyone. I don't care who you are please get screened, the prep for the colonoscopy sucks but it was worth the 20 or so minutes and saved my life in more ways then one.
