My name is Benna Baughman (Ben) and I’m writing today because I have a situation I could use some help with.

I’m a 78-year-old retired construction worker. I was diagnosed with advanced stage 4 lung cancer in August of 2023 and was given about 4 to 6 months to live. My expected expiration date was about January 2024.

I have lived for 16 months past that date and my scans show my cancer cells are shrinking at every visit to the doctor. It is an uphill battle from advanced stage 4, but I am getting better. I get scans every 3 months.

I didn’t accept any chemo or radiation treatments. I chose to follow a non-traditional treatment path.

My oncologist, among others, suggested I write a book about the methods I’m using to fight my cancer because it is working.

So, I have drafted a book which I have shared the manuscript with several people, including 2 of my doctors, 2 people with cancer, and 5 other people, including my cancer dietician, and they all have said, “Get it into print.”

The reason I’m starting a fundraiser is because I can’t afford to have the book published alone. I have found a great publisher who is working with me and so far hasn’t charged me anything for what her company has done, including the first editing and several other organizing tasks.

I’m asking for your help to get the book published and available to people who it may help personally and others who have cancer, or have a friend or family member with cancer.

Because of my cancer, I lost my job and therefore 2/3 of my income (I’m living on Social Security). The proceeds from your donations will go mostly for publication. However, I plan to use some money to help me continue with my treatment by paying for my supplements. Medicare and insurance will not pay for non-traditional treatments, so they are an out-of-pocket expense for me.

The book will be available on Amazon, Kindle, and other locations as soon as I can get it published and on the market. I will keep everyone informed of the progress as we go along, and I will let everyone know as soon as it is available for purchase.
