Hello friend! I'd like to introduce you to Argo, one of the wonderful cats I have been living with for the past two years! He is the 6 year old son of one of my best friends, Geo - we often say that I am "Auntie Fraa!!" to him, my beloved nephew. Here is Geo with Argo when he was very small <3

Argo loves nothing more than to leap around the house hot on the tail of long strands of grass and to lovingly meow and dance about in demand of food as it approaches dinner!

Unfortunately, Argo's not feeling like his usual delightful, grass-frenzied self at the moment :((. He has become very sick, and needs extensive, expensive veterinary care to ensure he lives a long and happy life. I've made this fundraiser in the hope to raise enough money to see him safely through this horrible time to the other side!

Argo's situation:

Argo has a chronic autoimmune disease that results in dangerously low platelet levels (feline immune-mediated thrombocytopenia). Left untreated, this condition can be life threatening - without sufficient platelets, even small injuries such as a light bruise can cause severe internal bleeding and be potentially fatal.

Previously, Argo was on a medication that successfully increased his platelet count to safe levels. However, two months ago, this medication stopped working. The vets could not say why this happened, but potential causes range from a worsening of his autoimmune disease to undiagnosed cancer.

Argo is now undergoing extensive examination from a specialist vet, many expensive screening and monitoring tests, and trialling different medications to re-increase his platelet count and determine why he’s relapsed.

This process is both incredibly taxing for poor Argo and prohibitively expensive -

Argo's Dad, Geo, is a renter managing multiple disabilities himself. He's facing the impossible task of managing his own food, housing and medical care as well as Argo's with only Centrelink's Jobseeker payment (about $450 per week), whilst he applies for the Disability Support Pension.

Multiple vital tests that Argo needs - including those to rule out cancer - have had to be postponed due to the cost. Hence this fundraiser! I'm hoping that together we as a community can raise enough money to get Argo the medical care he needs to live a healthy, grass-filled life!

With that said -

Argo's fundraising goal of $7200 is made up of:

- $800: Diagnostic ultrasound

- $2000: Diagnostic blood tests, ~$400 each

- $1200: Specialist veterinary appointments, ~$300 each

- $3000: Ongoing costs of regular and compounded medication, prescription diet, regular check ups and blood tests not included above (approx. $500 per month, budgeted for 6 months with the hope that Geo will be granted the Disability Support Pension by then)

- $200: To cover the cut that GoFundMe takes from our funds (2.2% of total raised+ 0.30c per transaction)

In the event that Argo's acute medical expenses are lower than expected, any leftover money from this fundraiser will be put towards his ongoing medical care.
