Help Belmont Market Recover from Robbery
Donation protected
Hi, my name is Genevieve Clock, I along with my husband Nick Clock purchased the Belmont Market back in June 2021. We have happily invested everything we have from love and time to money into this business to try and keep it up and running. In the 10 months we’ve owned it we’ve faced product shortages, shipping issues, natural disasters, countless shop lifting, assaults and were broken into and now robbed twice. Still we smile, happily open everyday, stay late, give to those who don’t have. We truly try to serve the community in any way that we can because we love it and believe that there is good there even through the countless trials that has been thrown at all of Portland, not just the Belmont Neighborhood.
On Monday April 4th, at 5am we were burglarized, the second hit in just 6 months. This one though has been the most devastating for us. They broke our door, stole our entire cash register, took all of the cash out of the atm(we fund that as well), stole thousands of dollars worth of merchandise and stole our laptop. This person did all of this while staring at a posted picture of our family at the register and looking at our toddlers highchair behind the counter. We are very much a small family business. It has felt extremely violating and discouraging to have this happen for a second time and now we need help.
We are going through insurance and expect that they will replace the merchandise and equipment that was broken or stolen but do not know when that will take place and we have a large deductible we have to pay to start that process.
We are officially reaching out to our community, friends, and family to help us get by and pay our deductible and all the immediate expenses we have incurred because of this horrible situation!
