Hi, my name is Bella. We took our sweet 2-year-old boy to the doctor because he wasn’t feeling well. We thought it was just a cold. The doctors ran tests on him and saw that his white and red blood levels were very low. He had little to no blood in his body. Right away, they had to do blood transfusions—red blood and platelets. They told us he might have leukemia. They knew something was terribly wrong. They did three bone marrows on him to be able to find the leukemia cells. We waited anxiously for two months as they couldn’t find anything. The third bone marrow was sent to a Detroit specialist. Our worst nightmare came true. He did in fact have AML leukemia. Along with COVID. He also has a missing Chromosome 7 gene (monosomy 7). He will need to do a stem cell transplant after his chemo treatments for fresh new blood inside his marrow. Our sweet boy is 2 years old. All donations will go to Rio’s life after fighting Cancer
