Music has always been at the heart of who I am. Since middle school, I’ve found joy and purpose in singing and performing, and I followed that passion to the University of Redlands Conservatory of Music, where I studied Vocal Performance from 2019 to 2022. Like so many, my journey changed after 2020. I took a leave of absence from music school in December 2022 to focus on my mental health, and I’ve spent the past year working on myself and rediscovering my love for music.
Now, I’ve been accepted to the Orfeo Music Festival in Italy this summer—a dream opportunity to return to rigorous training and perform for people who love music as much as I do. While I’m currently studying Liberal Arts online, my heart has always been in music, and I’m ready to get back on stage and see what I can achieve. I know I’m a little behind after my break, but I also know that female opera singers often reach their peak in their 30s. I believe in my potential and am determined to make the most of this chance.
Here’s a breakdown of my estimated costs: tuition (including shared room and board), an extra class to develop my professional portfolio, taxes and fees, round-trip flights, and a small emergency fund. I want to be transparent with supporters about how every contribution will help me cover these essentials and make the most of this opportunity.
The Orfeo Voice Institute is a program for singers where, in addition to taking private lessons with leading teachers and coaches, students have the opportunity to perform solo and in chamber groups, engage in opera scene concert production when offered, sing in master classes with vocal teachers from the best European opera theaters, as well as take language lessons and practice yoga. Tuition includes private lessons, master classes, performance classes, choir (if offered), piano accompaniment, practice room time, Certificate of Course Completion, free attendance of festival concerts, use of facilities, festival t-shirt, and, if signed up for, room and board (housing in a shared room and two meals daily).
