I'm Erin - Bella's momma looking to raise some funds for my fur baby's surgery. I've had Bella for 10 years now, and she is 11 years old. She is part Chihuahua and Sheltie (mixed with some other breeds too!). She is my heart and soul! She is the sweetest dog I have ever met. She loves people, her lambies, giving kisses, and especially a good cuddle.
She began having recurrent UTIs starting in February of this year. She took antibiotics 3 times, and it seemed like we got rid of the infection, but she was still having issues urinating. We were referred to get an ultrasound where we found out she has large bladder stones, 1 cm!! Her bladder wall is also inflamed, as I assume she has probably had these for a few months now (poor baby!). The ultrasound showed the stones took up about half her bladder size as she is a really small dog! Along with the bladder stones, her liver values were also elevated. The ultrasound showed that she also has a mucocele forming in her gallbladder, which is most likely causing her liver values to be higher than usual. Unfortunately, mucoceles do not tend to go away. They can be medically managed, but from my research, it looks like they usually eventually tend to cause issues. Once the symptoms start, the mortality rate of the gallbladder removal surgery goes from 5% (very low) to a whopping 20-25% (HIGH - that is about 1 out of 4 dogs!!) The surgeon also mentioned that dogs that are seeing some liver issues already can have more stress/issues while recovering. From that research, she will probably end up needing her gallbladder out as well within this surgery.
The low estimate of surgery (bladder stone removal ONLY) is $4,370.65. The high estimate of surgery (bladder stone removal and gallbladder removal) is $7,121.88. I am trying to raise $4,500 to help cover the costs of her surgery so my baby can continue living a happy and healthy life. If you are able to donate (even just $5), it would mean the world to us and Bella!
