On Friday afternoon, the 16th of October, my girlfriend's dog Bella was hit and ultimately ran over by an unknown driver. They drove off without providing any help or even attempting to notify us about our injured girl. My girlfriend, Mimi, heard the most painful and terrifying scream coming from Bella. As Mimi ran out of the house, and saw Bella she instantly knew something was wrong; even though, Bella tried to convince us otherwise. We immediately took her to the vet to assess for any urgent interventions Bella might require.  After all the x-rays and exams were taken at our veterinary hospital, they identified many broken bones - including her pelvis. Even with the multiple fractures, the most concerning injury was to her bladder. The injuries left Bella in a condition that prevented her from doing her most basic functions; including - walking, peeing, and pooping. It was obvious to us that she was experiencing tremendous amounts of pain, swelling, and bruising.  Under Mimi’s thorough 24 hours care and with veterinary oversight, Bella continued fighting. Ultimately after an additional exam by our veterinarian, the veterinarian highly recommended Bella to have ASAP surgery to repair her fractured pelvis, which has a recovery time of eight weeks. Not giving Bella surgery was never an option for Mimi and her family because Bella was their family and had so much more life to live.

Nobody expects or prepares to be in this situation. Mimi and her family's sole priority was Bella's health. The family does not expect any monetary compensation for what has happened to Bella; however, I believe that any donation will help their family in this situation. So far, their family has spent far over $5,500 dollars to pay for Bella's medical expenses. I am sure this amount will definitely increase with future checkups to monitor her recovery. I’ve set a goal of $4,000 to only cover Bella’s operation to alleviate her fractured pelvic for future issues and pain.
