My sweet girl Bella is a nine-year-old Rottweiler, and she’s been my best friend since she was just eight weeks old. She’s the kindest, smartest, most loyal dog I’ve ever known — truly my baby. Bella loves everyone she meets, always greeting people with her gentle, loving spirit and happy energy.

A few months ago, after one of her favorite car rides, Bella jumped out of the car and hurt her back leg. At first, I thought she might have just sprained or twisted it, but as time went on, a large lump began to form around her ankle area. I took her to the vet, and after several tests, we got heartbreaking news: Bella has osteosarcoma, an aggressive form of bone cancer that Rottweilers are unfortunately prone to. The good news is that the cancer has not spread to any other part of her body — which means Bella still has a fighting chance. However, the tumor has grown rapidly (now about the size of a softball) and is causing her a lot of pain. The vet said her best option for recovery and a pain-free life is to amputate her back right leg.

I’m doing everything I can to keep her comfortable and happy while we prepare for surgery, but the cost of the procedure and post-care is more than I can handle on my own. That’s why I’m reaching out for help. Bella has given me unconditional love for nearly a decade — she deserves the chance to keep living and smiling without pain.
